Privacy policy
This policy explains what happens to your documents and data when you use PapyDocs.
Last updated: October 22, 2026
In short
The PDF tools on this site process your files in your browser. Your documents, their content and their names are not sent to PapyDocs servers. Some information pages show ads from Google, which may use cookies; the tools never show ads. We do not use audience measurement.
Local processing
When you add a file, it is read by your browser and processed in memory on your device. The result is created on your device and downloaded from it. Selecting “Start over” or closing the tab releases these files from the page. We cannot guarantee how your browser or operating system manages memory or downloaded files.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect your documents, the text they contain, signatures you create or the names of your files. No account is required to use the tools.
Office conversions (optional)
Word, Excel and PowerPoint conversions send your file to the PapyDocs conversion server, only after you tick the consent box. The file is converted in memory and the PDF is returned immediately; PapyDocs does not store the file or its content. If the conversion server is not configured, these tools say so and nothing is sent.
AI features (optional)
Papy AI, Papy Translate and the optional AI modes of Papy Proofread, Papy Invoice Intelligence and Papy Contract Review send the text extracted from your documents — not the files — to the AI provider used by PapyDocs (Groq), only after you tick a consent box. The text is used to answer your request; PapyDocs does not store it and does not write it to its logs. The provider handles it under its own terms. If no AI provider is configured, these options are unavailable and nothing is sent. Papy Search and the local modes of these tools work entirely in your browser.
Papy API (developers)
Files sent to the Papy API by developers are processed in memory for the duration of the request and are not stored. For each API key, PapyDocs keeps only a hash of the key, its name and dates, and aggregate usage counters (number of calls, errors and bytes received per day and operation) for up to 90 days. No document content, file name or request parameter is recorded.
Cookies and local storage
We use one functional cookie to remember your language, and your browser keeps your theme choice (light or dark). On pages that show a Google ad (home, tools list, FAQ, About), Google and its partners may set cookies or use identifiers to serve ads, limit how often they repeat and fight fraud. Where the law requires it, you are asked for your consent first, and you can change it at any time from that message.
Advertising
PapyDocs is funded by advertising, with no subscription. Ads from Google AdSense and from our direct advertisers appear on information pages, never inside the tools or while a document is processed, and are always labelled “Advertisement”. Google receives neither your documents nor their content. You can turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com, and see how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Ads from our direct advertisers are served by PapyDocs, with no cookie.
Hosting and technical logs
Like any website, our hosting infrastructure may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser type and requested pages in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. This information does not include your documents.
Third parties
Local tools do not use any third-party service. Fonts, the PDF engine, the OCR engine and its language models are served from our own website.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data concerning you. Because the tools do not collect your documents, there is usually nothing to access or delete. For any question, use the contact page.
Changes to this policy
If we add features that require sending files to a server, we will ask for your explicit consent first, explain how long data is kept, and update this policy before launching them.
